Happy March! Spring is right around the corner, and I'm looking forward to all the lush greenery and beautiful blooms April will bring!

Going along with the Amanda Dykes theme, March’s pick is Up From the Sea by (you guessed it;) Amanda Dykes.

A common legend told among the people of New England captures generation after generation, telling of a mournful young woman, revolution, resistance, and betrayal. Savannah Thorpe is trying to adjust to life with her extended family in New England when she discovers she knows more about the story than anyone else. Thrust along into a plan of finding out what really happened, she’s pulled deep into a riveting tale of redemption, betrayal, and hope, alongside handsome but mysterious lumberjack Alastair Bliss. What will happen when they discover what really happened all those years ago?

This book is a novella, telling the story of Robert Bliss’s parents, (Robert Bliss is one of the main characters in Amanda Dykes novel Whose Waves These Are). It was so fascinating to read about his parents' story, and how what happened when they were young shaped them into who they were when they raised Robert and his brother. I loved reading little hints and tidbits that foreshadowed Robert’s story. I definitely could have kept reading for a whole novel’s length!

I would say, if you want to get the whole experience, I would read this before reading Whose Waves These Are, to catch all the little ‘easter eggs’ in the story.

My rating was 9/10, and I would definitely recommend!
